Personal Illustration
Passion projects, college school work, and personal commissions.
Antlers (2022)
Final project for my ART 499: Ideation of Visual Worlds taught by Professor Angie Wang during Spring 2022 at USC.
I visualized a fictional world where everyone is born as a yokai and tries to become human throughout their whole life -- an analogy to the conformist society in our real world. The main character is born a dragon-like yokai with antlers and scales.
Oxygen (2022)
A personal passion piece.
I imagined a concept “The last person on the planet doesn’t need oxygen” and tried to express a sense of solitude.
Younger Years (2022)
A family gift commission for the client’s immigrant father. The illustration depicts him as working teenager in Korea studying hard on the river bank while walking home from work, honoring the hard work that led to him finally immigrating to the US.
Florence Poster (2022)
Fan art I created for one of my favorite indie games Florence. Each poster features a main character from the game, exploring my understanding of the story’s theme.
I took compositional inspiration from the poster of The Tatami Galaxy, one of my favorite anime series.
Worlds in My Eyes (2021)
Another piece created in Professor Angie Wang’s illustration class to explore my style. I imagined upside down worlds with ocean in the sky and the space under my feet — a fantasy I always experience when I create art.
Character Practice (2021)
A character practice for my ART 314 Illustration for Art and Design taught by Angie Wang, when I first started experimenting with this style. The style was influenced by Argentinian illustrator Crisalys.
Self-portrait (2021)
A self-portrait that keeps exploring the style above.
Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War Pixel Portraits (2022)
Pixel portraits of the three main characters in the anime. I created a pixel brush in Procreate for this project. It was fun exploring a new art style — I got to observe and capture the details of my subjects in a way I had never experienced before.
